I confess: film chronic (movie review) is my favorite journalism genre! I practice it for a long time now. So I thought making a list of useful tips for those who want to write about movies. Are you regular moviegoers or occasional amateur? Are you an author who wants to spice up your blog with one chronic or wanting to write for online publications? For all of you and a few others, here is a two-step introduction on how to write a film chronicle.

STEP 1. Before you sit in front of the empty page, remember to:

• Watch the film, of course! :)) And while doing this, keep near you a notebook and a pen. Make small notes of the details that will be helpful in writing the chronicle: sequences and important replicas / memorable details that get your attention (ie does static frames prevail / or dynamic? Actors are expressive / false? What is the key scene of the movie? Or the replica that remains in your mind? How is the soundtrack? Etc.).

• Learn something about the film, the director and the actors by visiting sites like imdb.com. Was the director awarded? For this film or for another? The film is based on a book / story true? What genre is it (thriller, comedy, romantic drama, etc.)?

• At the end of watching it, try to establish clearly: Did you like it or not? Did you recommend it or not? In each case, do some outlinesPros and cons, possibly from the list of notes you made while watching.

  STEP 2. Write!

• The film has been seen and the documentation is done, all you need is to start writing. Not sure where to start? Choose a type of lead/intro and it will be easier to start the first sentences. And do not try to retell the whole movie. By doing that, all you manage is getting the reader bored. Focus on some key moments of the story, on the key elements of the noted stuff while watching. You should reproduce quotes, summarizes key scenes, describe how something is filmed.

• The film chronicle is an opinion article, so don’t summarize some dry information about the film. State what your opinion was about the film and supports this conclusion with arguments.

• Determine for whom you’re writing, and according to this, on what you want to focus on. On what triggers some reaction in the film (laughing, crying, fear)? On how the scenario is designed? On how was it filmed? On the fact that it looks like or not with other films by the same author? Everything depends on your target audience, on how you write and how long/short your article is. It is a extensiv chronic? Or rather a focused summary, a synopsis? The language is accessible and familiar, or rather elevated and in specialized terms?

• Write fluent and expressive. Use, where possible, short impact sentences. Do not bother the reader with endless paragraphs. You should give reasons/arguments for the exposed opinions. In other words, respect the rules of journalistic writings. Oh, and if you have time and feel like, you can also send me your chronic. ;)

Somewhere in the middle of winter I first encountered the phrase We Are Not friends, we’re strangers with memories. Although I have not given the desired attention, itmanaged to slip in my box with old stuff, causing me a constant andirritant acidity that  troubled my thoughts. Without starting to split the depth of relationships, regardless of it’s nature, Isomewhat offered himsome justice.

It’s difficult to define a link, at least for me, I am one who always ran and still run from the labels that convey our lifes. I was testing, I spent years under the „friendship” term , but the nice shaped everything turned into a bad split. But maybe it’s just the normal thread of the story, people come, people go and our only option is to continue our path until everything will just falls into the place of consistency.

But I can’t deny, I had more than pleasant surprises. New faces that I have entered into the daily agenda, that now lead to our comun ground. I met today with some of the faces I loved from the start, but with whom, without knowing a reason, the contact diminished. And I wonder how, why I let this happen when they create a presence so fun! I didn’t found an answer, or maybe I didn’t even search for one, not because I wanted to find myself and I was already decided on the resuscitation of these lost and found relationships .

All that remains now is to open another album and decorate it with our wonderful memories. And from time to time to slip into nostalgia, looking over myshoulder for thepeople that we were and when & where our steps have stopped now.

Inspired by a friend (as it happens all the time), I thought all day long for I am lucky.

Well, first, I have some parents who love me and would give their arms and legs to see me better. I don’t know how many can boast that, but I realize that they’re not grateful enough.

Then I have some friends who love me even though I kinda mess their lifes all the time. My soul friends are a couple of sweethearts and they are more dear to me when we meet and watchReptiles A (wink wink). We can drink so much wine that we feel like the Earth is floating andthe ground is pleased to feel our steps.

In third place is my little soul, the most adorable feathered brontozaurus, Johnny, my cat, who sleeps with me in my bed. The Earth quakes when he meows if I leave him home alone.

Sure, I’m lucky to have met a special someone who feels the need to tell me everyday how much he’s grateful that he got to know me.

There are many people and things that I have andI consider myself lucky. And still, I totally deserve the title of Drama Queen.

Eight years have passed since House managed to catch me in his nets ofvulgar lines sarcasm, misogynism and his charisma, hisblue eyes and hoarse voice when you havethe greatest need for it.

Today I watched the last episode of the show. I was talking with a friend and wewere trying to do all kinds of scenarios about how they could end the cycle of eight years. Just so we, who watched him forso long, be truly happy. I thought that his relationship with Wilson will be a kind of Romeo & Juliet, 2.0, that Wilsondies of cancer and Wilson & House willbecome, each one, a better man (yeah, right!) Or thateveryone is dead for some time and itall takes place in the imagination of a dog. Well, I had many thoughts. But the episode titled Everybody Dies managed to combine in an indescribable way all the ideas we had, to restore all the faces I’ve loved throughout the series, to make me cry like adog and smiling fondly at a painful breakup.

For the sake of those who read me, I won’t do too many spoilers, but House MD could not have an ending most successful to remain forever in our hearts and make us remember the pleasure of a show that was almost perfect for 8 seasons.

Thanks tothe filmmakers, who made me ”lose” hours in great style and thanks Hugh Laurie for a sensational role. And this is toremember:

I don’t know how other people are, but I, when I ask someone to do a top 10 favorite movies of all time, I expect the list to include Pulp Fiction. And when I ask someone to do a top 10 favorite roles, I must put one of Samuel L. Jackson’s tarantioish movie. He, the brilliant hitman prophet, with his endless lectures, resume and pastiche of various types, such as this one below (which, I admit, I often found practicing it in my mind).

So yes, I confess having a weakness for Mr. Samuel L. And yet, I can not tell you that his latest film is about a failure on all levels. The Samaritan has no credible story, no dialogue other than trivial or brilliant shots. Ok, is has an actress with chemestry with Samuel L. Jackson, but I feel that it would offer much more than this film allows it to offer. In short, The Samaritan is predictable, boring, common. Average action movie (or, as Europeans call it, dozen movies). 

Nothing gets old Enough, Hollywood right?

Nothing manages to surprise me when it comes to the land of the next (other) world, that is Hollywood. However, after reading the article in the Den of Geek my face turned into a big WTF: 105 films will get a sequel / prequel or even a remake.

I’ve always considered my blog a refuge. Adrianna`s World is a refuge corner of mine, where I choose to express my opinions, founded or not, on a subject that gave me no peace at midnight.

The reason for my absence is clear. I’m sick and tired of required standards. I admit, I was stolen by the world of A-listers: campaigns, invitations to certain events, many # nicepeople, wafers and hell knows what else, but all that comes with certain requirements that pisses me off: you must write every day, go to events that just make you unhappy, stay until the end, make conversation with anyone, to be nice, have a beautiful smile, like, share, retweet and be nice all the time. So, I’m clearly not the right person for the job in question.

With the standards of creme de la creme of the blogosphere, the pleasure to write has become an obligation and my corner of refuge collapsed. From this came my decision to take a break, to take a breath, to calm myself and remind me why in 2007 I’ve ask a friend of mine to „build” me a blog.

I don’t like sitting with the cursor on the statistics and I don’t wanna write out of obligation. I want to enjoy myself while writing about stuff I actually like. If that doesn’t attract the public, it’s my bad. I spent over three years with only five blog readers and I can still do this as long as I’m fond to the relationship I have with adrianna37.tumblr.com.

I don’t know anything that much, but when I make mistakes and talk more shit, I do it with passion. I like my blog, I smile when I read the stupid articles that haunted me 2-3 years ago and I love discovering a reader who loves me just for that.

So, don’t expect me to conform to the requirements, but only Adrianna, a tot who doesn’t find her place anywhere and steals hats from children:)). 

Psychopaths films are among my favorites because they manage to combine the two styles that amuses my neurons: drama and thriller. Besides the feelings that they manage to send me, movies like that have well defined main characters, played by actors that are awesome.

Series like Hannibal, American Psycho, Dexter series, Sweeney Todd: the Barber of Fleet Street, My Bloody Valentine, Perfume: the Story of a Murderer, Death Proof, Saw franchise, Taking Lives, Training Day Se7en are just some of the movies that manage to attract because the characters make you love some innocent psychopaths.

Now, the list of the the most important reasons that I love psychopaths in movies:

10. Because they are fat

I mean it when I say this. Show me a film with a psychopath and a merciless serial killer and he has a big belly from too much KFC and too much beer. The only movie I saw in which the guy is enjoying a beer after sucking (literally) a chic is Colin Farrell’s Fright Night but he’s a vampire, so it doesn’t count.

9. Because they usually have blue eyes

From an inexplicable reason, most psychopaths have large eyes, clear and blue. Here I could give the example of Anthony Hopkins in the role of Hannibal and Dylan Walsh in the remake of The Stepfather.

8. Because eating healthy and delicious

Hannibal enjoys a fresh human brain, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho eats at fancy restaurants the finest foods, Dexter knows that the most important meal of the day is breakfast and from all the examples we can conclude that psychopaths have habits healthy, right?

7. Because they have crazier mothers than ours

And face it, we are happy and laugh when we see others doing worse. In movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre it’s usually the bad guy being manipulated by an evil and large mouth, who is usually the mother.

6. Because they are intelligent

This is a true story and proven by British researchers. They have found that psychopaths have higher IQ than the common man.

5. Because they are charismatic

Otherwise, you couldn’t be manipuleted and later klilled, but it doesn’t matter as long as Christian Bale does to you the things mentioned above.

4. Because they listen to good music

How many times have you seen in movies a psychopath listening oriental music? Almost all of it is good old music, operetta and so on.

3. Because they are spontaneous

Or so it seems at first sight, and we women, we like men who manage to surprise us, right? However, you shouldn’t step on their toes, cause they may surprise you with a scythe in your back.

2. Because their roles are played by exceptional actors

I’ve mentioned this point in the introduction too, but I could not get over it as long as Anthony Hopkins, Christian Bale, Johnny Depp or Tobin Bell plays some brilliantly crazy roles.

1. Because they are true haters

And as we worship “bad guys”. Films with psychopaths can be a delight for a movies fan, who loves suspense and excessive violence.

Now that I’ve shared the most important reasons why I love to watch movies psychopaths of psychopaths, I look forward to know if someone shares my feelings.

From Being JohnMalkovich or maybe even before, job entrants mind that the actoral ways seemed tricky. Risky to do in a movie. Especially if the man in question has a supergood image, a mask as closely bonded to. As for Marilyn, for example.
The good news is that My Week with Marilyn does not try to give us what it’s behind the poster that displayes (probably) the sexiest actress of all time. Just kind of a life behind hipermediatizate theft. The bad news is that what we receive has little substance and purpose. And no writer / director who can live up to the standard.

So, welcome to themind of Marilyn. On the left, you can enjoy predictable suite of fears, phobias, anxieties and frustrations. On the right, hypersensitivity and candid spirit, naive and superfeminin (in the sense of “porcelain jewel” of the term, not the “Powerpuff Girl” one). Marilyn is always overwhelmed by what is happening, she’s timid, timorous, seraphic, unable to give appropriate responses. She seems to float naturally with reality only in the moments that (re)confirm that all those around her are in love with her. It showes the struggle that was evidenton the set ,but everyone argues with passion that she’s a great actress, brilliant, fabulous, etc. Overall, the film hardly convinces me about the correspondence with the realityof these qualities .And I tend to think this is not because of Michelle Williams (which failed to do what he did for Cate Blanchett in The Aviator, but captures monroe-ish atmosphere - the look, the talk, the walk ,the smile), but rather because of the people who wrote and filmed the movie.

Like it or not,our world judges you by how you look, by the way you dress, by how much money you are willing to spend on a night out or a vacation.These patterns and superficial judgments are so often that they end up being printed deep into the minds of the unconscious youth and from there to various diseases such asanorexia, bulimia, depression is only one step.

I’m a hardcore cinephile & beer taster. I love books & movies more than people. I dedicate poems to coffee. I mock the human nature. I breathe creativity. I thrive on advertising.
